Richard Thacker presents Why  Is Biology Important?

This talk will review what living things do for us! There are something like 2 million species in 5 major groups that scientists have identified. Many of these species are of use to Humankind, i.e. as food, as clothing, and as medicines. Living species also provide ‘free ecosystem services’ in the form of pollination, nutrient cycling, and cleaning polluted environments. We also now have an increasing volume of evidence that indicates that contact with nature is beneficial to human health, aids recovery from illness, and assists with our mental health.
