Biggar Science Festival Creative Writing Competition

In the early stages of creation of both art and science, everything in the mind is a story.

E.O. Wilson

An anthology entitled Elements comprising all the poetry and short story entries to the competition has now been compiled. It includes the winning poems ‘Chemistry Class’ and ‘Extraction’ by Gillian Mellor and the winning stories ‘Polonium’ by Cara Green and ‘Tracks on the Moon’ by Helen Aitken. It is on sale at Atkinson-Pryce Books in Biggar at a cost of £4.99.

Thanks are due to the Biggar Community Council Incentive Fund for contributing the prize money for the competition, and also to our judges for judging the entries. We are very grateful to Andrew McCallum for compiling the anthology. We also thank Atkinson-Pryce Books for their contribution towards printing costs and for stocking and selling Elements. Thank you!
